Informal meeting Aleksander Kwasniewski and Leonid Kuchma, and their influence on the formation of Polish-Ukrainian economic cooperation

Abstract

The article analyzed the influence of informal meetings of the Presidents Kwasniewski and Kuchma on the formation of Polish-Ukrainian economic cooperation as part of strategic partnership. Special emphasis during formal and informal meetings, were made on diverse inter-state cooperation, where the political, military and economic dimension of Polish-Ukrainian relations belongs as a priority.

Often, during informal meetings of the Presidents raised the issue of economic cooperation between the countries, which in the opinion of both Presidents is a manifestation of «high politics» and therefore consider this particular component of the Polish-Ukrainian strategic partnership. Special attention is given to holding joint forums, during which there were such informal meetings and created a General trend of economic cooperation.

Presidents initiated a reform of the interstate trading relations, industry and financial activities. Practical implementation in the course of the Presidents in the economic sphere can be traced on the example of joint projects of Polish-Ukrainian cooperation in Kharkov industrial complex of the Polish-Ukrainian center in Dnepropetrovsk, checkpoints at interstate borders and the like. The intensity and wide range of Polish-Ukrainian economic cooperation proves the necessity and correctness of the chosen course.
